Memories of Barbados.

Here is a whimsical saga of a wild and crazy person who had a terrific sense of adventure and a bizarre capacity of fun.  Together with his parents, Les and Muriel, Rex Wotton ran the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel, just up the beach from Settlers Beach. They took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises along the coast. He was an expert seafarer trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in navigation, sailing, diving, explosives, and marine work. Rex Wotton was just one of the most captivating Rogues one would ever meet. His spirit of joy and sharp wit enveloped every situation. He was independent at an early age and often took off for days at a time, to camp by Joes' river , catching fish for lunch. He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach. Once I saw him coming out of the water ...
