Rex Wotton Barbados Adventures
Rex Wotton ran the West Coast Watersports shop at Coral Reef hotel. It was just a short walk from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on sailing trips around the coast. He was a professional seafarer trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in ship navigation, and marine work. Rex was among the most enchanting Rogues of Barbados. His spirit of fun and sharp wit surrounded every circumstance. Sailing to St. Vincent with a friend at age 11 shows his sense of adventure. He encouraged others to share his pranks and daredevil acts, making it seem safe, easy, and a joy. In his early teens, he would set off on his own to commune with nature: Taking off with just the basic essentials, shorts, t-shirt, footwear, knife, a Panama hat, and little more, he lived off the land: He sheltered amongst trees, caves, and rocks, which he covered with shrub and debris, making a roof with palms and banana leaves.
